Welcome to Unsinkable Dogs, a swim facility for dogs in Southwest Washington State! Unsinkable Dogs is owned by Joyce Biethan who grew up in Portland, Oregon and wanted to return after 25 years in Seattle.
While looking into services for dogs available in the Portland/Vancouver area, Joyce discovered an absence of swimming facilities devoted to dogs. A search for suitable land resulted in a wonderful site just 2 miles from I-5, and the planning began. Unsinkable Dogs is the result!
Here is the pool! As of August 1, Unsinkable Dogs is operational!
Now nearly complete, Unsinkable Dogs offers a 14.5 feet by 7.5 feet jetted pool. The pool sits about 2 feet into the ground, with a ramp leading to the deck with a level entry 2 feet above the ground. The steps into the pool allow for gradual entry of dogs into the water. The pool has several "beaches" at different depths to allow dogs of most sizes to rest between conditioning swims. Whether the dog is a swimming novice gaining confidence in the water, an injured animal working to recover from her injury, or a canine athlete optimizing conditioning, Unsinkable Dogs' pool jets can be adjusted to an appropriate level.
Unsinkable Dogs is more than just a pool. The people of Unsinkable Dogs bring a wide variety of backgrounds and skills together to offer dog owners a unique experience. You can learn more about the individuals working in the pool on our Who We Are pages.
Unsinkable Dogs will begin by offering:
Assisted Injury Recovery Swimming
Self-Swim (after demonstrated safe pool and operational skills)
Unsinkable Dogs is operational but with a tiny bit of finishing work still going on. The pool arrived in early July, and we've been finishing up construction and learning about pool chemistry ever since. We are open for swimming, so please feel free to send a completed intake form to Joyce.
